Research every area in the job description.Be able to connect your experiences with the skills required by the employer.Research in-depth about the company you are interviewing with.Know your worth. 4 Ask relevant and insightful questions
At the end of the interview, you will have the chance to ask questions to the interviewer. This is an ideal opportunity to demonstrate your interest and enthusiasm for the role and the company, and to clear up any uncertainties or worries you may have. It’s beneficial to prepare some relevant and thought-provoking questions in advance, such as what are the main priorities and challenges for this role, how do you measure the performance and success of an administrative assistant, how would you describe the culture and work environment of the company, and what are the next steps in the hiring process. Conversely, it’s best to abstain from asking questions that are too personal, too broad, or too negative, such as how much does this role pay, what do you like or dislike about working here, or why did the previous administrative assistant leave?

This is super important. Interviews are also about you finding out what you need to know and also diving into if you’d like to work in this company / with this person. Don’t be afraid to ask your questions. You don’t have to wait until the end, if your question flows with the conversation your having then ask it right away. This is a two way convo! Don’t just keep your questions surface level, ask something you really want to know.

✨I had a big interview for an administrative assistant role. After the interview, I quickly sent a thank-you note, expressing how grateful I was for their time and the chance. I reiterated my excitement for the job and mentioned how my skills matched what they needed.It turns out they had a few questions about my experience, so I addressed those in the note too. I kept it short and sweet, and at the end, I asked about the next steps.Guess what? They were really impressed by the note and my follow-up. It showed them I was serious about the role. There were a few things that I always do in interviews:1) Answer questions as if I was already hired and in the role. 2) Prepare. I studied the company, the interviewer (if I knew their name ahead of time). I came prepared with 3-5 questions of my own - usually around company culture, company philanthropy (if applicable), or the strategic vision of whomever would be my immediate boss. A great example is "What are 3-5 of your strategic goals for the next year and how can I assist in this role?"3) Always, always, always show up as yourself both visually and in your speech. Showcase your personality and why it would be beneficial for the company culture and your position.
