“Give Me Back My Grandmother” – Tom Segura Hops On Stage At Nashville Bar & Performs “Friends In Low Places” (2024)

Awful brave to get that close to Garth’s bar…

Chances are, Garth Brooks isn’t a huge fan of Tom Segura. And it’s not really a surprise, considering the comedian is the reason that any post Garth makes on social media is flooded with “Where are the bodies?” comments and people making serial killer jokes.

You’re probably familiar with the long-running bit now, but it all started back in 2018 when Segura and his wife, fellow comedian Christina Pazsitzky, hosts of theYour Mom’s House podcast, stumbled upon the downright hysterical announcement video for Garth’s Stadium Tour. You know, the one he wanted to call the Big Ass Stadium Tour?

It’s the one where he said he wanted to “get physical playing music” and how much he “likes that.”

If you don’t remember, here’s a refresher…

Thanks to that video, Tom and Christina P came to the (inevitable, really) conclusion that Garth must be a serial killer with somewhere in the neighborhood of 200-300 bodies buried in his yard.

And the rest was history.

Thanks to an internet joke, Garth Brooks, the Country Music Hall of Famer, one of the greatest live acts in country music history, selling out professional football stadium after professional football stadium, had his entire comment section on Instagram and Twitter hijacked by the rabid following of two hilarious comedians.

And it’s gone on for YEARS.

Not only are the comments on all of Garth’s posts, but any post that mentions him is inevitably flooded by comments begging Garth to give the families closure and finally reveal the location of the bodies that he has buried in his backyard.

And it’s pretty much been confirmed that Garth isn’t a fan of Segura or the jokes, after the comedian revealed last year that Garth blocked him on Instagram:

“First I got word about a year ago from a 100% reliable source… I was like, ‘Does he know?’ And they’re like ‘Oh yeah, yeah. He knows.’ And I was like, ‘Is he upset?’

And they’re like, ‘He just doesn’t get it. Doesn’t know why you’re talking about him. I was like, ‘Okay.’

And then recently… he just blocked me on Instagram. And I was like, oh, he finally blocked me.”

But that’s not all: Segura has also been told that any time somebody brings it up, Garth will pull out the famous video of Segura taking a nasty fall playing basketball and tell them it’s “karma” for everything Tom has said about him.

It kinda feels a little bit out of character for Garth, who always comes across super likable and kind, but apparently the jokes are getting to him:

“And another person told me, this person said to me that they heard from a reliable source that when my name comes up to him, that he on his phone shows the video of me playing basketball and falling, and he goes, ‘Karma.’

I was like, that’s f*ckin’, pretty amazing. That a serial killer is finding it in their heart to say ‘Karma’ to the other person.

This man has, I mean, people are saying this man is responsible for hundreds of missing people and he’s gonna say that it’s karma?”

You’ve gotta admit, that’s pretty funny.

But Segura has apparently gotten under Garth’s skin, so it was pretty brave of the comedian to pop into a bar in downtown Nashville just a block from where Garth just opened “the Chick-fil-A of honky tonks,” his new bar Friends In Low Places.

That’s just what Segura did when he was in Music City though, when he hit up Bootlegger’s Inn on Broadway after a recent show at Bridgestone Arena.

And while he was there, he hopped up on stage to join the band for a performance of “Friends In Low Places.” (Well, kind of…Segura didn’t know the words, which is even more hilarious).

But while the band was playing Garth’s biggest hit, Segura had to warn the crowd – and issue a desperate plea to the country music superstar:

“There are 300,000 missing people in America. Don’t forget that…

Give me back my grandmother…

Garth has killed so many people.”

@seguratom We had a good time. Still don’t know the words. New vid is up on my Youtube. 🤘🏼#garth #garthbrooks #wherearethebodies ♬ original sound – Tom Segura

Now, if Garth really wanted the jokes to go away, he would just invite Segura to his bar to sing the song, prove that he’s in on the joke, and then it wouldn’t be fun anymore.

But apparently that’s not going to happen – so Segura is forced to make fun of him just steps away from Garth’s own bar.

Brutal.
